Chalk Dust

 

Roll a marble curled wi sea;

Another wi a lightnin storm in a teacup;

A third wi the green lick o dragon’s flame.

 

Kick pebble chalk dust

Scuffed shoes – ye’re oot!

Tic tac, colliebuckie

Wheel spin, skite!

 

Ferris lights, ferris fights,

Bustle, birl, carousel skirl,  

Wingtip ride, freefall sail,

Caterpiller furl, frog hoppin whirl.

 

Fae the top o the Binn, 

The shows wheel in miniature,

Yo-yo spools an streaks o colour, 

While music eddies wi the wind.
